What is the difference between a prepaid card and a credit card?

The prepaid card works like a prepaid mobile phone. You only spend what you load on the card.

Ordering and activating a card

Who may apply for a prepaid card?

Any German resident who is at least 18 years of age can apply for a card. Please note, that you may only own one personal VoiceCash prepaid card account. Please refer to our General Terms and Conditions.

How do I order the VoiceCash prepaid card?

Directly on this website. Simply click on the bullet point "Order" or on the subsequent link. You will be directed through a short and simple online registration process – straight to your new prepaid card. Order now!

Will there be a Schufa check upon registration?

No, there will be no Schufa check and no proof of income is required.

Do I need a bank account to be able to register?

No, you do not need a bank account for ordering or using the card. To pay for or load the card you can use our Loading Codes, which are available at 7.000 loading stations across Germany. For further pricing information click here!

How do I pay for my card package?

There are four payment methods:

  • By bank transfer
  • Through the direct payment service sofortüberweisung.de
  • With giropay (for this your bank needs to offer giropay payment services) 
  • Or with a code (available in more than 7,000 reload stations across Germany)

What shall I do if I’ve already purchased a code?

When ordering your prepaid card online you can select the payment method "Loading Voucher“. Here you can pay for your card by entering your code. You can also use the code later to reload your card.

 

When will I get my card?

We will send you your VoiceCash Prepaid Card to by post within ten days after registration.

 

 

What shall I do when I first receive the card?

Please follow these steps:

  • Sign the back of the card
  • Activate your card online or by mobile phone.
  • To activate your card online you have to register in the protected online area “My card”. After activation, your personal identification number (PIN) will be displayed directly online.
  • To activate the card with SMS, send a SMS text message with the content “activate” to the following VoiceCash number: (+49) 178 14 54 888. When the card has been activated you will receive an automated telephone call with your personal identification number (PIN), which you can use immediately.
  • Reload your card with the amount of your choice or use the credit already loaded during the registration.
  • Now you are ready to use your card.

How do I activate my card?

Activate your card online or simply use your mobile phone:

  • To activate your card online you will have to log into your personal area “My card”. After activation, your personal identification number (PIN) will be displayed directly online.
  • To activate the card via SMS, send a SMS text message with the content “Aktiviere” to the following VoiceCash number: 0178 14 54 888. When the card has been activated you will receive an automated telephone call informing you about your personal identification number (PIN).

How do I get the personal identification number (PIN) for my card?

  • After online activation, your personal identification number (PIN) will be displayed directly online.
  • When the card has been activated via SMS you will receive an automated telephone call informing you about your personal identification number (PIN).

Where and how to use the card

Where can I use the prepaid MasterCard© card?

You can pay or withdraw money from more than 32 million locations displaying the MasterCard© Acceptance Mark. You can use your card for online shopping.

Can I use my card for online shopping?

Yes, the card is excellent for online shopping! It can be used like any other MasterCard© card. You can pay in online shops, but also, in any shop that displays the MasterCard© Acceptance Mark, so long as you have enough credit on your card.

Can I use my prepaid card abroad?

Yes, your card can be used in all shops and ATMs that accept MasterCard© cards – in over 32 million locations worldwide.

What are the card limits and what is Postident?

  • You can load up to EUR 2,050 per year and withdraw up to EUR 810 at ATMs or use up to EUR 2,050 for shopping. The card balance however may never exceed 2,000 EUR. 
  • If you reach one of these annual limits you can automatically extend your card "limits" via Postident identification. We will provide you later on with information on this process, which enables you to load a maximum of EUR 90,000 on your card and gives you unlimited withdrawal rights. However the balance on the card may not exceed EUR 3,750. 
  • Please also note that the daily limit for ATM withdrawals is EUR 320. You will find all information relating to this topic in detail in our General Terms and Conditions

Will I receive a monthly statement?

Yes, you will receive a monthly statement which you can access in the inbox of your personal and protected login area “My card”. There you can also find the monthly transaction overview including your current credit balance.

For which functions can I use my mobile phone?

There are many functions. For example you can check the balance on your prepaid card, or you can lock or unlock it. Please refer to the complete list of available SMS commands.

My prepaid card isn’t working anymore. What can the reason be?

These could be some of the reasons why your card doesn’t work:

  • Your prepaid card is not active. Check the current card status online in your personal login area “My card”.
  • Your prepaid card is damaged or the magnetic strip illegible.
  • There is not enough credit on your card. 
  • The card was cancelled for security reasons (see General Terms and Conditions). Link General Terms and Conditions 
  • Your prepaid card in no longer valid. Check the date of validity on the card. 
  • For further support please contact our customer service.

What happens when the card expires?

Your card is valid for 36 months. It cannot be used beyond the expiration date. We will automatically send you a new card with any remaining credit from the old card transferred automatically. Please note that there is a fee for the new card. Loading / reloading the card

How can I load money onto my card if I don’t have a bank account?

Go to a VoiceCash Loading Station and pay the amount you want to load onto your card in cash. You will then receive a code which you can activate online in your personal log in area “My card” or directly by SMS. The amount loaded will be available on the card immediately. How can I load credit money to a bank account?

You can load your card via bank transfer or standing order. The money will be loaded to the card within 1-3 business days. You will receive an SMS immediately following the transfer, confirming that the amount has been credited to your card account.

Can I reload my card with giropay?

Yes, if your bank supports this service, you can reload your prepaid card with giropay conveniently and quickly. This currently applies to customers of the Postbank, the Sparkassen, the Volksbank, the Raiffeisen bank, as well as to some other banks. With giropay the credit is available on your card in real time – you will promptly receive a SMS notification of the credit. Go to giropay bank check

Can I reload my card with sofortüberweisung.de?

Yes, sofortüberweisung.de is a fast, simple and secure method of payment. You don’t need to register to use this service. The only condition is that you need an online bank account.

Personal data and card security

How can I change my personal data?

It is advisable to inform VoiceCash about any change in your personal data immediately. You can however make some changes yourself under the menu item “Profile” in your personal login area “My card”. Data that can be changed online is your mobile number and your e-mail address. To change any other data please contact the VoiceCash customer service. VoiceCash reserves the right to contact you at any time on issues relating to the security or abuse of your card. Should you cancel your account and wish a refund of your credit in the event of VoiceCash not having your correct address, VoiceCash cannot be held for responsible for any financial losses. 

How do I report my card lost or stolen?

You should inform us immediately if you lose your card, your card is stolen, or you fear that the card is being used by a non-authorized person.

Simply call us: 0180 577 50 75 (max. 0.14 EUR per minute for landline calls, max. 0.42 EUR per minute for mobile calls)

You can also report your card lost or stolen online in your personal log in area under the menu item “Security” with a simple mouse click. We will immediately lock your card for you.

How can I temporarily lock my card?

There are two possible ways to temporarily lock your card:

1. Send an SMS with the text “Lock” to the number 0178 14 54 888. To unlock the card just send another SMS with the text “Unlock”.

2. Click on the menu item “Security” in your personal log in area. Here you can lock and unlock your card at any time.

Miscellaneous

Why is a chip on the card required?

When paying, the customer is verified by the chip. Please hold your PIN ready.

What happens if I buy something from a shop and want to return it?

Your account will be debited. Any further course of action is subject to the shop’s guidelines on returned goods. In some cases shops may offer a cash refund or a credit voucher.

What do the General Terms and Conditions say?
